I don’t want to colonize your pain.
I don’t want to gentrify your rage.
I don’t want to pretend I can sublimate
your subjugation into my own experience.
I don’t want to lead, don’t want to subsume
your quiet truths with my booming projection
I just want to facilitate. I’ve had too much
privilege, too many advantages to have the
right to be angry. I’ll leave being angry
about the world to the people who have the
right to be, I’ll stick with alternating
heartbreak and bemusement at the madness
around us. I don’t want to colonize your
rage. I don’t want to gentrify your pain.
I don’t want to make it about me. I don’t
want to lead. I just want to be sad.
I hope that it helps you out somehow.
