I'm Glad I'm Glad I'm Glad in Everyday Ramblings

Back in my employment history there was a time when I was an independent financial planner and I loved it but it was very hard to be ethical and make a living working one on one. One of the things I worked on with everyone was their debt load.

To set a good example, I made a decision somewhere along the line to clear all my debt and I did. That was about 30 years ago. I don’t own a house or a car so not having any debt is fairly easy.

Except I discovered this week, when you are trying to apply for retirement benefits from the government. They pull your information from your credit report so you can set up an account and start getting payments.

This is not disclosed anywhere on the government site. I had a problem when I was setting up Medicare six months ago and ended up doing it over the phone. But they didn’t tell me that my background info didn’t match with my credit report info. The agent just said that yeah, the system was problematic.

I couldn’t even order a credit report online because I think there is a typo in my name. Who knows how long it has been there?

The local office was able to give me an appointment in three weeks to go in and do all this in person and luckily I have a few months lead-time but it makes me crazy that my government funded by my tax dollars is going to these contracts with these credit reporting agencies that have been proven not to keep data safe.

Last year when I had the almost heart attack my doctors told me to stop taking regular antihistamines, which I did. It may still feel like winter (or summer) where you are but it is full on spring here and the trees are all beginning to bud.

I had another mood crash after class on Monday and by the time I finished my walk home every mucous membrane I had was on full revolt from the histamines in the air.

I was grumpy and tired and bleh. I thought I might be getting a yeast infection. Oh and my back hurt more than usual. When I woke up yesterday morning it was like a light bulb went off in my head.

Oh! Seasonal allergies! Duh.

Mrs. Sherlock and I were planning on meeting at the other (I have to take a bus to) gym for a 9AM Body Pump class. No way. My tail feathers were dragging. I had a couple other errands to do over in that neck of the woods but I bailed on it all.

One can do that when one is retired!

I basically slept all day. Stayed in most of it other than a trip to a convenience store for soda and a chat with my neighbor at the mailbox. I am so proud of her, she bought her own stepladder after hearing my story about falling.

Today I am catching up on things and working a little on marketing for the new class that starts next Tuesday. And I’ll be teaching tonight. Last Wednesday for the first time since June I had no students. It happens. I sure hope it doesn’t happen tonight. I dropped off books at the library then and that made the round trip worthwhile so no complaints. I had a big enough class on Monday to offset the lack on Wednesday, even the sexton commented on how many people showed up.

Last week I got my hair trimmed and highlights. It was an adventure. A whole new salon. It was a beautiful day so the 50 minute walk was nice. But because my hair is to my shoulders now and she wanted to do baby highlights so there wouldn’t be a grow-out line it took 2 ½ hours! With the walk it took up the whole middle part of my day. It is very pretty. It was a big splurge.

Of course no one has noticed enough to comment.

The cats seem indifferent. :)

Inspired by the stuff I talked about in my last post I finished the Eating Disorder Course for Yoga Teachers I bought last year. It was interesting and wow there has been a whole lot of work done in this area over the last few years. Not like back in the day when eating disorders were ignored. I am so glad young people are getting help.

And yes…I am glad that Harvey Weinstein is in jail.
