I live with my husband, John, younger son, Tony & 2 cats in a village in South Herefordshire UK. Our elder son, Chris, is in Hereford and our daughter, Cat, in Cardiff. I love writing short stories and poetry, am working on my autobiography. Also love music, play guitar and sing, enjoy gardening, family history and travel when I can. We bought our cottage for the view 36 years ago. It's in a terrace of five, part way up a hill overlooking the village, the Black Mountains & the Golden Valley.

Tout comprendre, c’est tout pardonner. - To understand all is to forgive all.

I keep seeing people on TV talking about how they are filling in all of their spare time during lockdown. Some are taking up new hobbies, some are redecorating the house, some are just bored. I d...

Del Boy? in The View from the Terrace

I saw such a funny thing this morning. I looked out of the living room window and a small white van went by, on the side it read - Carpet fitting London Paris New York Llanederyn Llanederyn is...

I heard on the radio on Friday that one of the ravens has flown away from the Tower of London and not returned. It is feared that she may have died. There is a legend that if the ravens leave the...

Christmas in The View from the Terrace

Christmas day was quiet but pleasant. Louise cooked a wonderful dinner. She has been cooking since she was a child. She used to make the family a three course meal when she was ten. Nobody taugh...

I was watching the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph yesterday morning and it seemed so strange with everyone socially distancing and, of course, the parade of the veterans cancelled. In th...

It feels like Groundhog Day here in Cardiff. Once again the streets are quiet, as all but essential shops are closed. All, that is, except the little decorating shop opposite where the old man wh...

So here we go again, Cardiff, along with most of South Wales, is back in lockdown which means I can’t go home for visits. The government are saying most of the new cases have been caused by peopl...

It’s Chris’s birthday today, he’s 39. It seems strange that Wimbledon isn’t on. He was born on men’s finals day, the day McEnroe won for the first time. It was a blazing hot day and I was in a h...
