At last, a beautiful warm spring sunny day, the kind where you can feel the warmth of the sun on your back and you don’t need a coat. That was Thursday and I spent the afternoon in the garden fin...
The first day of spring, Grandma and my garden.
I read in the paper that today is the first day of spring as it is the spring equinox. My mother always told me that happened on my grandmother’s birthday, March 21, but I looked it up and appare...
Flowers, books and prejudices
The weather is so changable right now. Today the sun is shining while 2 days ago there was another big storm, I don’t know what that one was called, the wind was so strong that the daffodils were...
Mother's Day and our visit to Blist Hill Victorian Village
It’s a beautiful late winter/early spring day, full of sunshine and daffodils but still very cold. It would be nice to drive to the garden centre at Raglan. The daffodils always line the roads in...
The death of a laptop
I haven’t been here so much lately. I usually take a cup of tea and some breakfast back to bed while the house warms up and that’s when I visit. Sadly my laptop died at the beginning of the week ...
Hubby's 70th and a great party
It was a lovely day today, full of sunshine and birdsong , just like spring. It was quite mild, though Hubby was going around saying he was freezing and putting on an extra bar of fire. He makes ...
Cat has a diagnosis at last
Yesterday we went to Cardiff for Cat’s final assessment for her diagnosis. We were expecting they would give her a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome as that is what her psychiatrist thought. I ha...
Frost
How I hate these damp foggy days. Yesterday was very cold. I woke to see thick, white, spikey frost on the branches of the trees and bushes, but the skies were clear and bright and it was beautif...
Winter at last!
I was beginning to think that winter had forgotten to call this year. I think the flowers thought so too, our daffodils are really tall and in bud, and the clematis is starting to bloom, while I ...
After the deluge
After the deluge on Monday, followed by more rain on Tuesday after just a brief respite, we had two days of sunshine. It was so good to see it yesterday morning after long cloudy wet days almost...
Christmas Eve
It’s the morning of Christmas Even, a bright, sunny, blustery day. I woke with a migraine, I took one of my meds and it’s almost gone but I’m feeling spaced out. It doesn’t really matter as every...
Saturday Dec 5
Another wild blustery day, at least it’s good for drying the washing. It’s still quite mild and there are still some calendula and cape daisies in bloom in the garden. There was a giant orange po...
Thoughts about the Paris attacks and life in general
I have given up on NojoMo. I was struggling to keep up and I couldn’t seem to respond to some of the subjects. This last week I have been feeling very stuck. I think the events in Paris have a lo...
We went to a concert last night
Hubby and I went to a concert last night. It was a friend of ours Chris Bannister from the John Denver club, he performs John Denver tributes, well not tributes exactly as he doesn’t try to emula...
Remembrance Sunday
Today is Remembrance Sunday and I am thinking of 2 people. I have no immediate relatives who died in any wars. My father was a year too old to be accepted for the RAF in World War 2. My paternal ...
The Black Mountains
When I looked through my window this morning I noticed that the larger trees in the distance have shed all of their leaves now and we can see the Black Mountains again. When we bought this place ...
Our holiday in Cornwall
I haven’t written anything yet about our holiday in Cornwall so I thought I would do that today. It is just over a month now since we drove down on September 26 and arrived late afternoon in brig...
The view from my window
It’s a beautiful sunny autumn day today and quite warm too. I woke with one of my migraines so I am still resting in bed. From the bedroom window the autumn colours are looking glorious. From my ...
Catching up
I seem to have spent most of this week catching up with things after our holiday. We arrived back late afternoon Sunday. Tony was out and the dishwasher was half full of dirty plates and dishes a...
Goodbye to a good friend
On Sunday we arrived home after a week’s holiday in Cornwall. We had a great time with glorious weather, the best week of the summer, sunshine every day. While I was there I received some sad new...
Cat and David's Tenerife Holiday
Yesterday we drove down to Cardiff to take Billie Jean home. Cat and David have been in Tenerife for 2 weeks and we have really enjoyed having the dog here, even though the cats were wary at firs...
A rewarding and productive day
After several days of bad weather and also 3 days running waking with a migraine, I was really happy to wake yesterday morning feeling well and pain free and to see that the sun was shining. I sp...
Steam train
I was just outside getting the washing in when a steam train went by. I love living next to a railway and seeing the trains pass and wondering where they are going to and what the people on them ...
The long and winding road
Tony and Hubby brought home Tony’s new car OK on Saturday. I’m not sure if they used the sat nav. It led us a merry dance in Cardiff last week. I thought it was odd when it told us to take the th...
More car problems
I can’t believe it, we have had more car problems! Hubby brought home our new car on Wednesday. On Thursday we drove to Cardiff to collect Cat’s dog who we are having while they go to Tenerife. Y...
Book Description
I live in a terraced cottage on a hillside in South Herefordshire, UK. We are just in England but from our windows we have a view of the Black Mountains which are in Wales. I live with my husband, 2 grown up sons and 4 cats, we also have a daughter who lives with her boyfriend in South Wales.
I don’t have good health but I do voluntary work on a crisis helpline. I love writing. I write poetry and have written a book about my childhood growing up in a pub in Shrewsbury which I am hoping to get published.
I love music. I sing and play guitar and enjoy entertaining, though I don’t get to do that so much as before my health got bad. My other interests are psychology, the environment, history, gardening, genealogy and travel.
Because of my health I am home a lot and this is my view from the terrace..
