England 23- The Wrap-Up
FINALLY. I think it took me 4 1/2 months to do my travelogue for our First England Trip, and I thought that was ridiculous and swore to do it faster this time. And this time it's taken me SIX mon...
England 22- Hiking at Fyfield Down on the Last Day
Or, as we kept saying, the, "sniff..sniff...last day...WAAAHHHH!!!!" How is it possible for time to go so fast?? None of us was ready for it to be The Last Day. But, sadly, there The Last Day w...
England 21- Hackpen Hill and Rockley and just wandering around
Since I've not been really doing day-to-day entries to document our countryside stay, and instead have been doing hunks of things - like an entry for Marlborough and an entry (or two) for Bath an...
England 20- a picturey entry with more pictures of picturesque Avebury
Have I said how much I loved Avebury? I really loved Avebury. I could live here. Amongst the stones. And sheep. This sheep had an itch. Impressive trees: West Kennet ...
England 19; hanging around Avebury, views of the village
We hung around Avebury just about every day that we were in Wiltshire, so I'm giving Avebury its own entry. It's both a town and the site of a Neolithic henge monument. It's the largest stone cir...
England 18.5; some more Bath pictures
The real Bath entry is one entry back, but I want to add a few more pictures. Because I found Kim's Bath Pictures- which I'd put in a separate set from MY Bath Pictures on Flickr, since she was u...
England 18 - Thursday's trip to Bath; lovely and very low on draaaama
But before I get to Bath, I have to wrap up one last loose end from the previous Passport Disaster entries: What happened to the purse?? I was oddly certain that it would reappear, since the card...
England 17 -- !!DISATER!!DAY!!! continued...
...from last entry. Disaster Day actually lasted for two days--- Tuesday June 24th was The Day The Passport Vanished, and Wednesday the 25th was The Day We Had To Drive Back To London To The Emba...
At last.. it's.... !!!DISASTER DAY!!!!!
FINALLY, after all the endless foreshadowing, we have arrived. Tuesday June 24th. The Day Disaster Struck. Well, Disaster really struck the previous evening, but it was Tuesday morning before we...
England 15: Marlborough and Devizes; last pre-!DISASTER! entry
I really will get to the impending !!!DISASTER!!!! next entry. I just want to get pictures of Marlborough in since we were there every day, and also stick in a glimpse of Devizes. THEN I'll relat...
England 14: hanging out at the Barge
Since I have approximately 789,124 pictures of our trip, and we didn't really range very far once we were in Wiltshire (well, except that one day), I'm going to do these entries more by place tha...
Before the SERIOUS drama hits! Well, it hits on Tuesday so we have another nice peaceful day after this one. I left off the last entry as we arrived in Pewsey and were met at the station by an ex...
I am taking a big step here and making my entry in Prosebox -- and then if OD ever has a lull in fucked-upedness, I'll cross-post it over there. I'm at work and bored out of my mind, so am not in...
England 11: the rest of Greenwich in pictures.
{obviously crossposting} Let's see of OD will cooperate long enough to knock out the rest of the Greenwich pictures. My membership was up for renewal a couple of weeks ago, and for the first time...
England 10: Saturday in London; visit to Greenwich
But first, in an exciting story related to my very last entry about the zoo, the London Zoo's first tiger cub in 17 years was born a few weeks ago! They just announced it, and didn't even tell th...
By Friday we couldn't believe that the London Leg was almost over...just like last time, it went by in a flash. And just like last time we felt like we did about an eighth of a percent of what we...
England 8: backtracking for Piccadilly Circus
I realized after my last entry that I completely forgot to post Piccadilly Circus pictures. We didn’t spend much time there but passed through on Wednesday evening to get the tube back to Stratfo...
SO, my last post left poor Baker B rattled by nearly being mugged by a creepy possible-drug-dealer in teeny Devizes, and considering an escape from the town. Our landlady (I feel odd calling her ...
FINALLY. I am doing a very poor job with this. As I recall I did a very poor job last trip too - I think it took me till February to finish writing about the trip we took in October-- so I suppos...
England 5: Wednesday in London; Westminster Abbey
A day which was not very dramatic at all for me and Kim, happily, but was quite dramatic for Baker B. Well, London was not dramatic for Baker B, as he was in Devizes, but he had a harrowing even...
England 4: The rest of Tuesday in London
...with less drama. We were saving up our energy for the drama to come! We continued to play tourist, and after touring Tower of London we went on to the Tower Bridge. Tower Bridge is right besid...
England 3: Tuesday in London, with less drama
Of course there was a teeny bit of drama, but it was minimal. Compared to all the other days, at least. With Kim calling her relatives about the Cat Bite Incident (which by Tuesday had settled do...
England 2: First Full Day In London: draaaama!!
Or, more accurately, Continuing Draaaaama. With a little new drama thrown in for effect! Monday started off with a bang, literally, as my blowdryer burst into flames. Setting off the smoke alar...
England, Day 1 Part 2..... !!!!!Draaaaaaaaaama!!!!
At the end of the last entry, Kim was feeling much better and we'd gone to our little chain-pub-not-an-authentic-London-pub for a beer and a soothing jacket (aka baked) potato, and walked home ag...
England Day 1: We Set Off. And Arrive
We had an overnight flight from Charlotte to Heathrow on Saturday the 15th, which I said last time I wasn't sure I'd do again... but it's actually the only way that makes any sense. You fly all n...
Book Description
A Traveloguey set of entries about the Big England Trip my husband Baker B, our BFF Kim and I just returned from. This is actually my second Big Trip to England; BFF and I went nearly three years ago for a week in London and another week out in the countryside. I made a series of OD entries about that and will probably transport them over eventually.
This time Baker B could not resist going as well. Kim and I spent the first week in London again, while the intrepid Baker B (who has always been a really really REALLY bad traveler) spent a week by himself in Devizes, a little town in Wiltshire, hiking and exploring the Mysterious Countryside of England. The second week we all stayed in a cottage right outside Marlborough, also in Wiltshire.
We had all manner of mishaps, unfortunate occurrences, and near-disasters, as will happen when traveling. And we also had a fantastic time.
