dorothy was terrified
of tornadoes as a child
ran as fast as she could to hide
outside inside anywhere away
from the chaos of the sky

now dorothy is middle-aged
she inherited the mortgage on the farm
now dorothy has bills to pay
and every night before she lays
her head upon the pillow she prays
for a tornado to come for her again

it’s never ever ever came
