Italy tomorrow in All Good Things

I’m packing again. Actually, I’m procrastinating because I can’t face the sight of my suitcase and having to decide now what I want to wear each day for the next two weeks. I have completely had enough of travelling.

I think I’ve spent 23 weeks so far this year away from home altogether, all around the UK and in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Israel, Dubai, India, Hong Kong, Qatar, Singapore and Australia. All of a sudden it’s too much for me.

I should be grateful, and I am - although currently in somewhat of an abstract way since I’m filled with a practical dread. For a change, the majority of that travel has been for pleasure, not for work, unlike last year when I don’t think I travelled for pleasure once. Oh no, I did, down to New Zealand and Australia in the middle of a work trip to the Far East, for the grand total of about 10 days.

I need to go and pack. And be happy, because I’m going to Italy for a very wonderful reason, to spend time with some of my favourite people on earth, including my best friend, purely to enjoy myself. There’s no downside here.

Other than the actual travel bit…
