Compliments in Adventures in paradise

I had a pretty awesome half-day at the beach yesterday. I wasn’t sure what beach to go to, as I love going to either Mooloolaba or Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast or down to Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast. The sunny coast is where I always went on holiday as a kid with the family once a year, and Burleigh’s one of my personal favourites. However, I ended up just going to Surfer’s Paradise. It was during the week and wasn’t overly touristy at the time, so it worked out fine.
It was VERY windy though. I’d even looked up the weather online before I left, and was LOOKING at the ‘wind-speed’ section and ‘umming and ahhing’ over the 28-38 knot speeds is was showing. I have no idea about wind speeds, but just looking at anything above ‘0’ seems like a bit to me haha, but the temperature said it was 24 degrees and mostly sunny on the Gold Coast and 26 degrees on the Sunny Coast, so going on that, I decided to walk down to the train station and jump on a train and go to the Goldy.
I almost actually went to Cleveland instead, as I haven’t been all the way to the end of that line before, but decided at the last minute to jump on the Gold Coast train instead, as both trains were arriving on that platform on seperate sides, but the Goldy train arrived first. So that made my decision for me.
I knew what to expect also. The spontaneous Cleveland trip can wait for another day.
I was right. It was windy when I got there. I arrived down there rather early, around 8:30am or so, since I’d left Brisbane really early. It worked out really well, and gave me the entire morning to just lay on the beach in the sun.
I went into Woolies and grabbed some snacks, then made my way down to the beach. I’d packed my sunscreen and my book, preparing for the day.
My suspicions were correct. It wasn’t just windy, it was very windy! The weather however, was glorious. Sun was out, couple of hot guys were around, I was happy :)
Setting up my towel on the sand wasn’t easy, since the wind was trying to take it flying out of my hands haha, but I managed, anchoring it down with my bags and thongs.
I noticed a lady sunbathing on the sand just up from me, who was SO tanned! She was Caucasian but could’ve been Spanish for all I knew haha. I felt so self-conscious feeling off my shirt to reveal my albino skin :P
I liberally applied sunscreen and laid there for a while, but realized I was just getting sand-blasted every 30 seconds or so. It wasn’t so bad on my legs, but it was hurting my arms. Sand was also sticking to the sunscreen on my body, so it wasn’t long until I was covered in sand and grit and dirt and whatever else was on the beach. I had my shirt covering most of my face, so that wasn’t an issue.
I’d actually spotted an area that provided a wind-break earlier on, but opted not to use it, because the wind was actually doing an awesome job of keeping me cool despite being in the warm sun. It wasn’t long til I was moving everything back to that windbreak area. Then I was annoyed I didn’t start off there, because the wind was no longer annoying me, but was still hitting enough of me to keep me cool.
Had it just been a completely sunny day with no wind at all, I probably would have felt over-heated and not stayed as long as I did.
I ended up leaving around midday, not even spending the whole day there. Going from previous experience, work has usually called me in on a Thursday, so I opted to head back just in case. Of course, this was one day that I wasn’t called in. God-damn it :P I was glad though, because laying in the sun had really tired me out, so it was a blessing to sleep instead of having to feel myself up to go to work :)
So my sleeping pattern was completely out of whack yet again, and I had to nap again before going to work tonight. I only just woke up on time, thankfully because I was smart enough to set my alarm. I’d spent the morning keeping Vish company as he went and bought some stuff around town, then headed home to get a nap in. I’d been awake since around 4am, so knew I’d be tired again before starting at 7pm.
Work went fast though. I actually had a male customer hit on me tonight haha. He was just after a product that wasn’t on the shelf, and I couldn’t find it anywhere despite the system saying we had it (God-damn it that always seems to happen), but anyway when I came back and told him, he says to me, “Do you go to gym?”
I played it cool, “Yeah man, every few days or so.”
“You’ve got a really hot body.”
LOL!
Of course he was a guy probably in his mid to late 40’s, so I just thanked him.
